Description

Stewartia Pseudocamellia Japanese Stewartia is prized for the flaky ornamental bark that peels to reveal orange, gray, and reddish-brown stripes. Japanese Stewartia produces cup-shaped, delicate, white flowers with showy orange-yellow anthers, blooming in early summer in the leaf axils. The deciduous ornamental tree with a pyramidal growth habit bears ovate, dark green leaves that turn red, burgundy, and orange in fall. Japanese Stewartia is ideal for beds and borders. The ornamental tree grows best in moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soils and full sun to part shade.
