Prunus Avium Sam Black Cherry

Prunus Avium Sam Black Cherry is a fruit tree that thrives in full sun or some partial shade and performs best in neutral to acidic, loamy, well-drained soils. Sam Black Cherry boasts shiny, dark-green, serrated leaves with a pronounced slender tip that turns to shades of orange, pink, and red during fall. In early April, clusters or pairs of pure, snowy white flowers with yellow stamens in the center appear. The cherries are medium-sized, delicious, and heart-shaped with a very dark-red skin, firm but moist bright red flesh, and a balanced flavor of sweetness and tartness, ripe and ready to eat by late July. It is ideal for an orchard or as an ornamental tree with an attractive, rich, shiny, purple-brown bark adorned with prominent lighter gray-brown bands. However, to produce fruits, it needs to be grown with other pollinated shrubs like Stella cherry.
