Acer Rubrum Armstrong Red Maple

Acer Rubrum 'Armstrong' Red Maple has an upright-columnar habit and is well suited as a shade or lawn tree. This tree produces insignificant flowers in April. The 'Armstrong' Red Maple prefers full sun to partial shade in moderate to moist, acidic soils. Leaves of the 'Armstrong' Red Maple are larger, like the silver maple, one of its parents and the bark is distinctively silver. Autumn color varies from yellowish orange to more color, under ideal conditions. This cultivar can withstand both some drought and occasional wet soil.
