Industry Updates and Tariff Insights: March 2025

This year, the tariffs imposed on imported goods from Canada, China and Mexico will likely impact many areas of the green industry, including lighting, agronomics, irrigation, landscape supplies, hardscapes and nursery.

While tariffs, specific to each country, will likely impact supply chain operations, pricing and product availability, SiteOne is working with suppliers to minimize the potential impact on our customers. We will continue to monitor these developments to keep customers informed about potential impacts on their business.

SiteOne is working with suppliers to delay increase dates or reduce how much of an increase suppliers may pass along.

Canada

Customers could face challenges related to the import of key landscaping materials such as grass seed and natural stone. Stricter regulations or renegotiations could impact product availability and delivery times.

Mexico

Landscape materials like low-voltage lighting, core irrigation items and related products manufactured in Mexico could result in an increase of 25% tariffs, supply chain delays or higher costs for these materials. Customers should be aware that changes in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) terms could affect product availability and pricing, making it important to stay updated on potential trade policy shifts.

China

While China is not a part of the USMCA, any changes to the agreement could still indirectly impact SiteOne customers. If the US shifts its trade focus due to USMCA negotiations, it could lead to an increase of 20% tariffs on goods from China, regulations or supply chain priorities. This could affect the cost and availability of landscaping materials sourced from China, such as lighting, tools and hardscape products.
