Viburnum Davidii Viburnum is a short, compact shrub with a mounding habit and reaches 2-3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. Small white flowers in showy rounded clusters bloom in spring. Fertilized flowers on female plants produce showy round fruits that emerge green but eventually turn pink, red, and finally a metallic turquoise blue as they ripen. Fruits usually remain on the shrub through the winter and are appealing to birds. Viburnum has evergreen leaves that are leathery, deeply veined, elliptic-oval, and blue-green but develop burgundy tones in fall and winter. This shrub prefers full sun to part shade and organically rich, moist, well-drained soil for proper growth. It can be used as a hedge, border, or groundcover.
